About Lepton

Lepton is one of the many suburbs of Huddersfield, located four-and-a-quarter miles east of the town centre. Directly north of Lepton Great Wood, Lepton has a prominent football and cricket club. Lepton is believed to have started as a settlement or farmstead by the Anglo-Saxons, indicated by the "ton" part of Lepton. Once, Lepton had two woods - Lepton Great Wood and Lepton Little Wood - though Lepton Little wood was cut down to make way for the building of houses.
