Started journalistic career at Colne Valley Guardian in 1972 as a trainee and moved to the Examiner in 1975.Spent 14 years as crime reporter before becoming News Editor 18 years ago. Highlights of career included coverage of the Yorkshire Ripper trial at the Old Bailey.
