A FAMILY business making horse trailers and transporters has achieved another clear round.
Meltham-based Equi-Trek Ltd, based at Meltham, provides luxury transport for top riders including John Whitaker, Oliver Townend, Robert Smith and Para-Olympic champion Lee Pearson.
The company’s starting point was to design a unique side-loading trailer to make loading and unloading less stressful for the horse and provide better accommodation for its human companions.
It has widened its range of products and has exhibited across Europe to achieve export sales to Belgium, France, Italy, Germany and Sweden.
Director Tom Janion said the win was great for everybody involved in the company.
“In the last year we have more than doubled the number of staff and opened two new factories. We saw that the UK market was going to shrink and looked to be able to deliver the same service that we offer here across Europe.
“It’s put us in a much stronger position.”
Also nominated in the category, sponsored by HSBC, were Severn Unival Ltd and Newsholme Food Group.
