A RASTRICK company has helped adhesives firm Bostik avoid a sticky situation.
Boge Compressors has installed one of its machines at Bostik’s cement manufacturing plant in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
Bostik is one of the world's leading providers of adhesive and sealants. Millions of DIY enthusiasts and professionals use its products every day.
At Thirsk, a constant and reliable supply of compressed air is required to power the manufacturing process.
Mike Brier, engineering manager at Bostik, had invited a number of compressor suppliers to assess the energy-efficiency of the existing compressed air system as part of the company’s overall drive to optimise energy use.
A comprehensive audit revealed that Bostik could reduce their compressed air energy costs by upgrading the equipment.
The Boge screw compressor now installed has achieved that end by producing the exact volume of compressed air at the pressure required. Frequency control minimises idling time and evens out air demand fluctuations.
Said Mr Brier: “We are really pleased with the new compressor which has not only reduced our compressed air energy costs by 32% but has contributed to overall site energy savings of 8% a year.
“It is also providing us with a continuous and reliable supply of compressed air.”
