CINEMAS operator Cineworld revealed a rise in box office takings after a strong line-up of 3D film blockbusters helped to draw in cash-strapped consumers.
Total sales for the 42 weeks ending 21 October were up by 8.5% against the same period the previous year – with box office takings ahead by 8.3%.
This compares favourably to its results for the first half of 2010 when revenues rose by 3.8% to £162m and box office takings were up by 4.1% to £111.7m. The firm has 801 screens.
