Greene King planning changes for Belhaven
Dec 4 2010 Huddersfield Daily Examiner
PUBS group Greene King has announced plans to re-vamp its Belhaven business in a bid to save £1m.
Greene King said it will combine its brewing company and pubs, which include managed and leased properties, with Belhaven to speed up its growth strategy.
The move will create a 900-strong managed pub estate across UK.
Greene King, which bought Scottish-based Belhaven in 2005, will keep its breweries in Bury St Edmunds and Dunbar and combine the portfolio of ale brands, including Belhaven Best and Greene King IPA.
The move came as the group announced a 17% rise in pre-tax profits to £73.1m on revenues up by 4.2% to £484.1m.
The firm said trading was strong and Christmas bookings were “comfortably ahead of last year”.
