YORKSHIREMAN Mark Horsley, 51, has been appointed chief executive of Northern Gas Networks.
He takes up the post in the new year and succeeds Basil Scarsella, who was recently appointed chief executive officer of UK Power Networks, in London.
Both Northern Gas Networks and UK Power Networks are owned by the Cheung Kong Group, based in Hong Kong.
Mr Horsley (pictured) is currently a partner at EC Harris, an international built asset consultancy. Before that, he was a director at Scottish Power.
York-born Mr Horsley began his career as an apprentice with the North Eastern Electricity Board. He rose through the ranks to become president and chief operating officer of CE Electric UK in 2003.
“I am excited to be joining Northern Gas Networks”.
