KIRKLEES businesswomen have been urged to follow in the footsteps of two Huddersfield company bosses – and bid to become the Outstanding Business Women of the Year.
Yorkshire networking group Forward Ladies has launched the 2011 awards after the outstanding success of the inaugural competition last year.
The first award was won by Sarah Dunwell of CREATE, a social enterprise set up to create 44 new jobs and 20 volunteering opportunities. It supports vulnerable people with full-time permanent work, either within the business or with other local companies.
Vicki Davenport, of Netherton-based The Pink Link, was named corporate businesswoman of the Year, while Louise Holmes, of ice cream making firm Yummy Yorkshire in Denby Dale was a runner up in the category for home-based businesswoman of the year.
Etta Cohen (pictured), founder of Forward Ladies said: “Forward Ladies embraces women from all sectors and at all stages of their professional life. This is our way of recognising their valuable contribution in the success of the region.”
Entry is via website www.forwardladies.com and the closing date for entries is Friday, June 24. The shortlisted entries will be invited to a prestigious lunch event on October 14 at Leeds United’s Elland Road stadium.
