DAVID Elliott’s driving ambition is to make his firm the best in its field.

The director of Shepley-based camper van conversion specialist Wellhouse Leisure steered the business from a standing start to create a company employing more than 30 staff working with some of the car industry’s biggest manufacturers.

Through his efforts, Wellhouse succeeded in riding out the 2008 recession to land a ground-breaking deal to sell £1.4m of new motor homes from a large German firm.

Last year saw the company win major orders after attending its first indoor exhibition in Birmingham. It also signed an agreement with Hyundai to create an award-winning camper van for sale across the UK.

David said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to win. Here we are, a small Yorkshire company approaching the fourth largest car company in the world for business ... and they responded. It shows you don’t need to be scared about thinking big.’’

Also nominated in the category sponsored by Fantastic Media were Gareth Henderson, of Orchard Energy; and Mohammed Asif Ali, of Five Star Autocentre.
