A MANUFACTURING firm in Huddersfield has been recognised for supporting employees who also serve in the forces.
Glass bending specialist Novaglaze Gardner & Newton Ltd, based at Queen’s Mill Road, Lockwood, received a certificate from SaBRE – Supporting Britain’s Reservists and Employers – for being a supportive employer of the Armed Forces Reserves.
The presentation was made to director Gary Smith and factory manager Paul Parry by the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, at a private ceremony held at Thornbury Barracks in Pudsey.
Mr Parry has been a reservist for the last 28 years.
SaBRE is a Ministry of Defence campaign to provide support and information to employers with staff serving in the reserves.
Mr Smith said: “We feel proud to support the reservists. Currently, we have Paul who is with the reserves and four ex-forces personnel.
“It is important to be a good employer and support those who support both the community and the country as best we can.”
More than 10,000 firms and organisations in the UK are providing support for more than 8,000 volunteer reservists.
