MORE high street names have made a commitment to a new shopping development in West Yorkshire.

Halifax’s Broad Street Plaza, which is being built by Elland-based Marshall Construction, has added leisure brands Nando’s, TGI Friday’s and Pure Gym to the list of occupants.

The new arrivals mean the scheme is 95% let just three months away from completion.

Other secured tenants include Vue Cinema, Frankie and Benny’s, The Chinese Buffet, Wetherspoons, Harvester, Pizza Express, a 100-bed Premier Inn hotel, a 429-space car park, a meet-and-greet centre let to Calderdale Metro and an NHS drop-in centre.

The 280,000sq ft Broad Street Plaza scheme is billed as one of the biggest mixed-use and leisure schemes to start on site in the North of England since the onset of the downturn.

It is also the most significant new regeneration development in Halifax for more than 10 years.

The regeneration project by Gregory Projects, part of the Leeds-based Gregory Property Group, gained financial backing from regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and Santander.

The scheme, which began on-site in July, 2010, is set to create about 400 jobs.

Broad Street Plaza is scheduled to be completed in late May.
