HOMES in Huddersfield are worth almost £14bn, according to a survey.
Analysis by online property business Findaproperty.com has valued the town’s housing stock at £13.9bn.
The figure is based on the value of every home in the town – from studio lofts through to luxury town houses. The average property in Huddersfield is worth £166,816 while the total figure works out at more than £94,000 for every person living in the town..
However Huddersfield “property portfolio” has fallen in value during the past 12 months. The latest figure is 12% down on the £15.6bn quoted in last year’s survey – in line with most other towns and cities.
Elsewhere in Yorkshire, domestic property in Leeds was valued at £50.96bn with Sheffield at £37.33bn.
Nigel Lewis, property analyst at FindaProperty.com, said: “Once we’d done the maths, we were surprised at just how much Huddersfield was worth – it’s amazing what it all adds up.
“We conducted this analysis because we think it’s the best way to track the full impact of fragile house prices during the current period of uncertainty.
“Looking just at specific property types or particular parts of town can be misleading as these can vary wildly within the same place, so taking the overall value of a city’s properties gives a fuller picture.”
