The Modern Language School finds new premises
THREE language lecturers who set up their own business after being made redundant from Kirklees College have moved into new premises.
Lynne Hill, Vicky Addy and Dominique Rebout, who run The Modern Language School, have their own facilities at Meltham Mills Industrial Estate – less than 12 months after the business was formed.
Vicky said that by taking on the premises, the partners were showing a long-term commitment to the school and to its students.
A suite of rooms has undergone extensive refurbishment to modern standards, giving the school a professional base from which to run its courses.
Said Vicky: “As a language school, we feel that having our own premises completely under our control is a huge advantage. Not only will we be able to make it our own and create a more welcoming atmosphere, it will also provide us with a more stable platform with greater flexibility for sizes and times of classes.”
As well as language courses, the school offers “cinema sessions” which are proving popular as a proven technique in learning French, Spanish and Italian..
The school has also developed, designed and produced its own resource for learning irregular present tense verbs which is available for sale to students and other language teachers.
Said Vicky: “We are continually developing our teaching and learning materials based on our knowledge, experience and passion for languages.
“Since the closure of the language department at Kirklees College, we have been providing classes and private tuition in the Huddersfield and Batley areas. We believe that our school will provide a vital role in the local community and that it will prove a great place to learn.”
