Huddersfield Giants' Brett Hodgson: Forward credit & I'm glad for Brad!

Brett Hodgson

LIKE everyone else, I was delighted to see Brad Drew in action for us last weekend.

I’ve known Drewy for plenty of years now. In fact, we were teammates at Parramatta.

So I knew exactly what he can do and how valuable he would be to the side once he finally got over his knee injury.

And when he came on at the weekend he showed he’d lost none of his quality.

Drewy has always had this amazing ability to spot the gaps and put players through it, and the more he plays the more he’ll be doing just that.

I know that over the past few months he’s been fighting his own personal injury battles.

But it looks like he’s putting those behind him now and we’re starting to see the real Brad Drew once again.

I HAVE to take my hat off once again to the work of our forwards.

I know I keep saying this, but if the boys up front aren’t doing their job, then the backs don’t really get a look-in – and against Hull they were all magnificent.

All the forwards did a top job in fronting up last week and we’ll need more of the same in the games that still lie ahead.

Graeme Horne, in particular, played in a position that he wasn’t used to, but put in a brilliant performance in the front row so I think he deserves a lot of credit.

The pack were definitely central to the way we fought back from that early 18-point deficit, although I think the way the fans got right behind us when we started to get on top was also a very important factor.

The atmosphere was fantastic against Hull FC and more of the same would be very much appreciated tonight.

I think Sunday’s game showed what can happen when we respect possession and keep hold of the ball, which has been an ongoing problem for us in the last six to eight weeks.

We have been giving away possession too easily and against good quality sides you’re bound to be punished for that.
