There was brief joy for Swinton when Mike Woods scored his side's only try in the corner after good work by Mick Nanyn, but Huddersfield hit back straight from the restart.

Hallas's high kick-off was collected by Eorl Crabtree and one play later Gene sent Rice charging over for the final points of the contest with 13 minutes remaining.

A frustrating afternoon for the home side was completed when Lee Hansen was sent off for head-butting Chris Langley in the last minute, and for the Lions the end couldn't have come quickly enough!
