Super show as Hornets stung

Not only was their attacking clinical, but their defence was again almost faultless.

Only once was their line breached when Danny Wood sent Brendan O'Meara over in the corner.

Apart from that, however, they were hardly troubled, and the fact that full-back Paul Reilly didn't have to make a single tackle in the opening half speaks for itself!

But it was a different story on attack as Reilly cut loose from deep on numerous occasions to rip Rochdale to pieces.

Many other colleagues were also in dazzling form in this one-sided affair, although Reilly was heavily involved in three of the moves for the opening four tries.

Within two minutes he had linked up with Chris Thorman, Hefin O'Hare and Eorl Crabtree to create the position for Darren Turner to crash over from close range.

Thorman failed with the conversion, but made no mistake six minutes later as he added the extras to Cooper's scintillating try.

The excitement, however, was even greater straight from the restart.

Richard Agar's kick-off was collected by Steve McNamara whose long pass found Reilly.

The full-back then broke out of numerous tackles before releasing Cooper.
