Super show sinks rivals

Leigh 4 - 37 Giants. MAGNIFICENT!

Hefin O'Hare

That's the only way to describe the Giants' awesome destruction of main title rivals Leigh.

Last week's demolition of Rochdale Hornets was special.

But yesterday's heroic display at Hilton Park was even better as they stormed to a victory that was far more comprehensive than Wigan's 30-16 Challenge Cup success at Leigh the week before!

The Giants' defence - which in the first half, in particular, was constantly put to the test - was almost faultless.

In fact, the only time they managed to breach the visitors' defence was when Simon Baldwin fortuitously charged down Steve McNamara's kick and dribbled to the line before touching down.

That came eight minutes before the break.

But that's as close as Leigh got to upsetting the unbeaten NFP leaders.

With Huddersfield's rock-solid defence once again laying a magnificent foundation - it has still to concede 100 points in 13 NFP games! - the Giants' strike force was able to set about their opponents in ruthless fashion.

Half-backs Chris Thorman and Stanley Gene were at times unstoppable, while the three-quarters broke through on numerous occasions to rip Leigh to shreds.
