Easy for Giants!

All those in action staked a genuine claim for inclusion, including debutant Philip Joseph.

Philip Joseph

The 17-year-old can feel mightily proud of his efforts, and there were more than enough signs in the 47 minutes he was on the field to suggest that he could have a very bright future in the game.

It obviously helped the former Newsome Panthers junior that he was making his senior debut in a side that is in such upbeat mood, but whatever the circumstances he stood up to the challenge exceptionally well.

By the time he entered the fray, the Giants were already cruising at 34-0, with thoughts of beating the McAlpine League score of 68-6 earlier in the season a major talking point.

Within three minutes the home side had opened the scoring as Mark Moxon darted over for his first try of the season.

Captain Rob Roberts easily converted the first of his eight successful efforts from 11 attempts, and the Giants were on their way.

Seven minutes later Graeme Hallas finished off a fine handling move to score his side's second, and after a brief spell of Hunslet pressure the second quarter of the contest became totally one-sided.

That was mainly due to the attacking brilliance of hooker Paul March, who seemed to split the Hunslet defence with every touch of the ball.

It was his superb pass off the floor which sent Paul Reilly racing clear and he then completely wrong-footed full-back Lee Bargate with some superb footwork to score under the posts.

And by the 24th minute the Giants were up to a point a minute as March again laid the foundation for Chris Molyneux to charge over.

The inspirational No9 then turned scorer after profiting from some good work by Roberts before returning to the role of provider to help set up Hallas for his second.
