That came courtesy of Dewsbury-born Paul March.
Redfearn's pass close to the Giants' line immediately put Chris Chapman under pressure and the ball spilled out as the tackle was made.
March gratefully picked up the pieces, sped off down the left wing and just had the pace to beat the cover to score in the corner.
Huddersfield's task had been made easier at that stage by the sin-binning of Jim Elston for preventing the Giants from taking a quick tap penalty, but the try still needed scoring.
March's effort gave his side an 8-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Yet it wasn't until the 44th minute that the advantage was extended.
McNamara's attempted kick downfield on the sixth tackle was charged down and fell perfectly for Rob Roberts to collect and rush clear.
With the tackle count wiped clean, Dewsbury were caught on the back foot and Jeff Wittenberg took full advantage to step past the cover and crash over.
This time McNamara made no mistake with the easier conversion and at 14-0 the Giants had some genuine breathing space.
That breathing space became even greater within three minutes as Reilly skipped majestically past several would-be tacklers to score a fine individual try.
