Then a minute later Bailey slipped at the crucial stage after being released by the excellent Jamie Bloem. Had he stayed on his feet and fed the supporting Paul March a try may have been the outcome.
But seconds later, Fleary charged powerfully to the line and then threw out what would have been a definite tryscoring pass had his teammates been able to collect. Instead, it fell to ground and the chance had gone.
And those feelings of frustration were heightened minutes later as Bailey was sin-binned for an offence clearly committed by March.
Bailey's attempted pass fell to ground, Orr kicked ahead and the covering March held him back.
Yet that didn't stop referee Robert Connolly brandishing the yellow card to the bemused Giants centre.
That, however, was just the start of Huddersfield's woes as immediately from the tap penalty Ryan Hudson's long pass gave Michael Smith the simplest of tries, converted by Orr, who went on to land six goals from six attempts.
Fortunately for the Giants, that was their wake-up call.
Eight minutes later Brandon Costin collected the ball 10 metres out and crashed through several tackles to score a try he also converted.
Then just as Bailey was about to return from his 10-minute breather they were over again.
O'Hare embarked on a dazzling break down the touchline and slipped the ball inside to March.
