Painful opener ends dreams of a victory

Hull 34 - 6 Giants. Giants faily to make tackles count.

In the 51st minute Julian Bailey crossed for a score, but only after Hefin O'Hare had given him the pass after putting a foot in touch.

But two minutes later their efforts were finally rewarded as Horne lost the ball 30 metres from his own line and Stanley Gene picked up and beat the cover to score under the posts.

Costin converted and it was 24-6.

That, however, was that from the Giants, whose previously incisive attacking edge was nowhere to be seen.

In the closing stages Colin Best and Prescott added further scores, and an unsatisfactory game was over.
