Costin's try seals a super Roarty debut

Within the first few minutes he had produced some big hits to announce his arrival in the British game.

And then with just five minutes 58 seconds on the clock he had opened his Super League tryscoring account, stepping past a defender 40 metres out and racing away to score under the posts with the full-back nowhere to be seen.

Brandon Costin added the conversion and the perfect start had been achieved.

Better was to follow in the 16th minute as the lead was doubled when Paul March sent Paul Reilly crashing over under the posts.

There were, however, signs at that stage that Halifax were far from a beaten side.

Several early attacks on the Huddersfield line must have given the visitors hope and in the 25th minute the deficit was halved.

A Shayne McNenemy bomb on the last tackle landed in the in-goal area and Liam Finn was first to pounce.

Dane Dorahy goaled and Halifax were right back in it.

And by the 34th minute the sides were level, albeit after struggling referee Robert Connolly had given Halifax a helping hand.

His decision to give the visitors another six tackles on the line after the Giants had charged down a kick was laughable.
