Costin, March and Reilly combined superbly to take the ball to the line on the fifth tackle, and the possession was immediately worked to the right for Ben Cooper to send in Hefin O'Hare.

Spirited Halifax again fought back on the hour as Dorahy's short pass sent Paul Davidson charging through a massive gap under the posts.

Dorahy's goal made it 22-18 and three minutes later it was 22-20 after he landed a penalty following Cooper's high shot on Finn, which also resulted in the Giants substitite going on report.

At that stage the game was perfectly poised.

But fortunately for the home contingent it was the McAlpine men who were able to settle the outcome.
