FULL OF PROMISE!
And by the 30-minute mark, the Giants had added try No3.
Robinson intercepted inside his own 20 and raced 40m before being caught.
But with the support coming up fast, the ball was whipped to the left for Whatuira to finish with the greatest of ease.
Unfortunately, Cudjoe was unable to land any of the three tough touchline conversions.
But big-name full-back signing Brett Hodgson also failed from wide out with his first effort following his introduction at the start of the second half.
That came in the 55th minute and shortly after Castleford had struck for the first time through Michael Wainwright to make it 12-4.
Almost immediately after that setback, the Giants went back on the attack and Brown’s kick to the corner was collected with ease for David Hodgson’s second.
Brett Hodgson’s conversion attempt went narrowly wide, but two minutes later he broke his duck, converting his own try under the posts after linking up superbly with Robinson.
And three minutes later Hodgson added goal No2 after Shaun Lunt’s initial work enabled Danny Kirmond to race 40m and beat the cover to finish off.
At that stage, the contest had become one-way traffic.
But with the Giants then making changes by the bucketload, the momentum was inevitably lost and the Tigers grabbed three late tries from Richard Owen, Billy Harris and Chris Feather and two Kirk Dixon goals to give a final scoreline that failed to reflect the Giants’ dominance.
