Match report: Bradford Bulls 12 - 16 Giants
Feb 28 2009 by Chris Roberts, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
And by the 43rd minute the Bulls had regained the lead as good approach play ended with Glenn Morrison charging over for a try, converted by Deacon.
Fortunately for the visits, however, those two blows failed to knock them out of their stride, and 11 minutes later they were back in front.
Keith Mason’s midfield drive caused a chink in the home side’s defence and he fed Brett Hodgson, whose lovely inside ball was collected by Kevin Brown to race away, draw full-back Michael Platt and give Stephen Wild a clear run to the line. Hodgson’s goal made it 16-12.
Only heroic defence prevented Steve Menzies from touching down and levelling the scores on the hour mark, and then a similar effort was required five minutes later to halt Morrison.
Then with the game entering it’s nail-biting closing stages, the Giants were forced to drop out after Hodgson, fittingly, dealt superbly with a Bradford ‘bomb’. But this was a day when the Giants were not to be denied.
This was one of their finest Super League hours!
