Match Report: Giants 20 Hull FC 24

HULL MAKE GIANTS PAY
Within eight minutes Hull were ahead after David Hodgson’s woeful pass inside his own 20 failed to be collected by wing partner Martin Aspinwall and from the scrum the position was created for Tom Briscoe to score in the corner.
The ever-reliable Danny Tickle added the conversion and had no trouble landing a second three minutes later after Richard Horne stepped almost effortlessly through some wafer-thin cover.
Despite Huddersfield continuing to show an almost complete lack of respect to their possession, they did narrow the gap 11 minutes before the break.
Back-to-back penalties forced Hull onto the back foot and Scott Moore skilfully worked the play to feed Joe Walsh to plunge over for a debut try, converted by Hodgson.
But such was the slip shod way in which the Giants were performing that it was no surprise when Hull hit back almost immediately to lead 18-10 at the break.
A high Richard Horne ‘bomb’ on the sixth tackle failed to be diffused and Jamie Thackray was on hand to pounce and storm over in the corner for Tickle to once again add the extras.
