And it got even better for the Giants eight minutes later when they grabbed their opening try.
With substitutes Andy Raleigh and Danny Kirmond injecting spark into the attack, Wigan were forced to drop-out for the second time in the game, and after Simon Finnigan had driven the ball to the line lively hooker Scott Moore plunge over from acting half-back for Hodgson to land goal No3.
Robinson did little to help his teammates’ cause early in the second half when he was sin-binned for preventing the Warriors from playing a quick tap on their 20.
Wigan almost made their numerical advantage count in the 55th minute when Amos Roberts just failed to collect Sam Tomkins’ kick to the corner.
But just as Robinson returned to the fray tempers flared big time when Moore was taken late by Harrison Hansen, Darrell Griffin objected and the two men were sent to the sin-bin after a mass free-for-all.
Unfortunately for the visitors, it was Wigan who regained their composure the quickest and three minutes later smart play on the Giants’ left gave Roberts the chance to finish off, again too wide out for Richards to convert.
However, the Giants’ response was once again magnificent.
