WE’LL BE BACK!

HUDDERSFIELD Giants are braced to lose their top-six Super League spot this weekend, but coach Jon Sharp believes his side will be back.

Sharp’s men were last night beaten 20-12 by Wigan at the JJB Stadium and know they will lose their play-off place to either Wakefield or Harlequins who meet at Belle Vue tomorrow.

A win against Wigan would have moved Huddersfield up to fourth ahead of next Sunday’s home clash with Bradford Bulls.

But with four games remaining, the Giants chief is far from ready to give up chasing what would be a first-ever play-off slot.

“It was obviously disappointing to lose last night, but there’s still everything to play for,” said Sharp, who lost captain Chris Thorman in the second half with a bruised back.

“Even in defeat I’m proud of the players and the way we played.

“Defensively, I felt we were magnificent and when we did get a little bit of field position we created some opportunities, but unfortunately our completion rates hurt us.

“We know we can put that right, and that’s what we’ll be striving to do. When we do, it’ll be a different story.”

Meanwhile, Wigan coach Brian Noble is confident Stuart Fielden will not face further action despite being placed on report during last night’s match.

Referee Steve Ganson took action late in the match after a complaint from Jamahl Lolesi over remarks he alleged had been made to him by the Great Britain star.

But after the game the Giants centre withdrew the allegation, leaving Fielden unlikely to face any disciplinary action.
