Hudson so keen to shine

RYAN HUDSON is predicting a massive 2008 for himself and the Giants.

The 27-year-old hooker made a superb return to Super League action last season after serving a two-year drugs ban.

And with a full campaign under his belt, the former England ace is convinced he can make even more of an impact in Super League XIII.

“I’ve really enjoyed this season, and I can’t wait for the next,” said Hudson, who received a phone call of congratulations from Great Britain coach Tony Smith.

“Obviously, no-one – including myself – knew exactly what to expect this year, because two years out of the game is a long time. But I always backed my own ability and kept the faith. I’m delighted with the way things have turned out, but I know there’s a lot more to come next year.

“I always used this year as something of a stepping stone, with the hope of going on to have a massive season in 2008. I believe everything is on course for that.

“One of the things that held me back this year was not having a pre-season under my belt. I was banned until January and wasn’t allowed to train with the rest of the boys, which was a real problem when I first started playing the games. It’s going to be a totally different ball game next season.

“I’ll been fully prepared for the start of the year and, after the season we’ve just had, I can’t wait to get cracking.

“We’ve got a quality squad and I know we can have an even better 2008.

!I just wish pre-season training was starting now, and not in mid-November!”
