Calling all those with cheerleading dream

HUDDERSFIELD Giants have launched a junior cheerleading academy.

And they are already inviting interested parties to register with the club.

There will be two weekly classes taking place on Monday evenings in the all-new dance studio at the Zone Sports Centre next to the Galpharm Stadium from next month.

The classes are for age groups 5-10 and 10-15 and they are to be co-ordinated by former Neighbours star and Paramatta Eels cheerleader coach Robyn Morrison, pictured left.

She will also be co-ordinating the Giants Senior Cheerleading squad in Super League XIII and said: “The classes will consist of a vibrant cheer programme that involves many exciting and varied skills.

“Our classes will incorporate great music, dance moves, pompom performance, easy-to-learn cheers, correct tumbling and safe stunts.

“American style cheerleading is fun, energetic, exciting with funky style dancing to the latest music.

“Pompoms play a major role in cheerleading and competitions are available for the truly committed.

“I’m sure those who turn up will have a fantastic time.”

Classes will be £3 per week, with a registration and induction evening on Monday, January 7 at the Galpharm Stadium.
