Deputy doctor

DR Paul Morgan has been appointed deputy chairman of Huddersfield Giants.

He has been a board member since the Giants first entered Super League in 1998 and was unanimously elected to the position by the club’s board.

His appointment was announced by Giants chairman Ken Davy, who believes he has made a tremendous impact to the club’s cause.

“Dr Morgan has played a huge part behind the scenes in the revival of the Huddersfield Giants,” said Davy.

“And I am absolutely delighted he has accepted the position of club deputy chairman in recognition of his contribution.

“There are many facets to running a top-flight rugby league club and the support Paul brings to the staff and coaches cannot be underestimated.

“Like him, I am look forward to a successful 2008 season for the Giants.”

Dr Morgan added: “ I am absolutely delighted to be given this opportunity at such a great club.

“The progress we have made in recent years on and off the pitch has been exceptional.

“The quality and work ethic of the Giants staff is second to none.

“We will not rest until we win silverware and, when we do, we will set the bar even higher.”

Dr Morgan is a leading authority in the world of sports psychology.

As a managing director of training companies specialising in the application of psychology, he has created the world’s largest sports psychology programme and Europe’s largest quality programme.

He is currently creating a sports coaching learning platform.

As an advisor in sport psychology, Dr Morgan has worked regularly with an extensive number of professional teams in different sports.

He has worked at representative rugby league level with the Great Britain squad in their preparations for the 1999 Tri Nations series and with Ireland in the 2000 World Cup.

He is a published author and has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, and represents the Giants on the RFL council.
