GIANTS coach Jon Sharp is more concerned with the performance than the result in Sunday’s pre-season clash against Hull at the KC Stadium (2.30)
Although Sharp admits he would like to see his side triumph and spoil Hull prop Paul King’s testimonial day, he knows defeat wouldn’t be the end of the world.
But if his side produces a shaky performance against their Super League rivals, it would be a totally different matter.
“We would obviously love to win every game we play,” said Sharp.
“But, when it boils down to it, winning isn’t the be all and end all in pre-season games.
“This is the time for coaches to see how new combinations are working and if pre-season preparations are on track.
“For me, I’m very keen to see how Luke Robinson and Kevin Brown combine, how Paul Whatuira is linking with his winger and how George Gatis gels with his new front-row colleagues.
“In that sense, this Sunday is vitally important, and I hope to know a lot more about my squad after this game.
“This weekend is one of those occasions when the performance is everything.”
Meanwhile, the Giants have announced the highly popular Supporters Season Launch will take place at Club Visage (next to last year’s venue the former Billie Rox) on Monday, January 21, from 7.00.
The event is free for season ticket holders and £2 to non-season ticket holders.
