Plenty more to come

JON SHARP is demanding more from his Giants!

Although the Galpharm chief was delighted by his side’s 12-try Super League demolition of Castleford Tigers, he believes there is still a lot more to come from his side.

And he knows that if Huddersfield let their standard slip at home to Hull on Sunday (3.00), his side could be back to square one.

“I know there’s still a lot more to come from this team,” said Sharp, whose side moved up to eighth in the Super League table with the 64-12 weekend thrashing of the Tigers.

“I was pleased with the way we played against Castleford attacking-wise, but you have to remember our new half-back pairing is just two-and-a-half games old. There’s still plenty of room for improvement

“I am delighted with what I’ve seen from Kevin Brown and Luke Robinson, who in my mind has been our best player so far this season, but I know it’s still early days for them.

“And it’s still early days for our other new signings, Paul Whatuira and George Gatis.

“But everyone has already seen Paul’s undoubted class and the extra dimension around the ruck George gives us.

“They, too, will give us even more when they get more games for us under their belts.

“However, the early signs are very promising and the key now is to make sure we build on these, starting against Hull on Sunday.

“It’s another tough game, but we are very confident of continuing our improvement, which I know we’re going to need to.

“Hull may have had their injury problems, but after picking up their first win of the season against Wigan last Friday, they certainly won’t be lacking confidence.

“They looked sharp and very threatening in that game, and played right up until the last minute, which shows how good their spirit is.

“That’s why I know we must show more than we did against Cas last weekend.

“If we want to move up the League we have to continue improving.

“That’s the bottom line.”
