IT’S LOOKING GOOD!

HUDDERSFIELD Giants made it two Reserve wins out of two with an excellent 36-28 triumph over Hull at Laund Hill.

It leaves coach Andy Procter’s side second in the table behind St Helens on points difference ahead of Saturday’s clash against Harlequins, which is being played at 12.30 as a curtain-raiser to the Quins-Giants Super League game at The Stoop.

And confidence should be high after securing what is a rare win for the Giants over Hull at this level.

It also came on the back of the opening-day triumph over Castleford.

At the heart of that first win were Super League squad men Thomas Hemingway and Danny Kirmond, who were again in top form.

Also playing a leading role was experienced second-row forward Stuart Jones.

He has struggled to earn back a first-team spot after picking up a hamstring injury in pre-season.

But there was enough to suggest on this performance that he could soon win back a place in the Super League side.

The former St Helens and Wigan man bagged one of his side’s seven tries, with prop Chris Lawson leading the way with two.

There were also tries for Ryan Heeley, Michael Lawrence, Michael Brown and Sam Barlow.

Scott Glassell completed the scoring with four tries.

Missing from the side was Leroy Cudjoe, who had taken Jones’ place from the week before as 18th man for the Super League game against Hull the following day.
