Experience of Elford is crucial

HUDDERSFIELD Giants reserves made it five wins from eight games with a narrow 24-22 triumph at Hull.

Led in the centres by experienced Super League player Shane Elford, the visitors just held the edge in a game that was nip and tuck throughout.

After a tight opening 40 minutes, the sides were locked at 12-12, with Scott Glassell adding one more goal than Hull counterpart Karl Puckering to seal victory.

Glassell landed four goals to Puckering’s two, while the Giants scored tries through full-back Tom Griffiths (two), Ryan Heeley and a spectacular long-range solo effort from Jermaine McGilvray.

Huddersfield’s academy side are still searching for their first win of the campaign after going down 22-14 at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Their tries came from Josh Lyons (two) and Michael Lang, with Ed Barber landing a goal.
