This win has been coming!

DELIGHTED Giants coach Jon Sharp savoured his side’s big 50-16 Super League victory over Hull KR at the Galpharm yesterday and declared: “This has been coming!”

Although the Giants went into the Rovers clash on the back of a run of one win and a draw from their last nine top-flight starts, Sharp remained confident his side would turn things around.

And even though it was just a week since they were beaten 42-22 by the same opposition in the Challenge Cup, Sharp had complete faith in his players and their ability.

“I thought we were very good,” he said.

“And I believe this performance has been coming all year.

“We have been so close on several occasions. We’ve been beaten on four occasions by fewer than four points and have also drawn a match.

“So the indicators were there. I know we went into the game second from bottom (the Giants have now moved up a place after Hull’s defeat at Harlequins), but we are on a positive points difference, which shows how close we have been.

“And even after last week’s defeat I knew we could turn it around.

“There were changes in the game plan and changes in personnel, and it worked exceptionally well.”
