We’ve got hard work on agenda

GIANTS captain Chris Thorman admits there’s still lots of work to do as the Giants bid to mount a late run towards the play-offs.

Huddersfield ended a bad run of results by thrashing Hull KR 50-16.

That was just the Giants’ fourth success of the campaign and they remain five points adrift of a top-six spot at the halfway stage heading to Catalans on Saturday (7.30).

And fit-again Thorman, who made a successful return after missing two games with a dead leg, knows his side need to back up the convincing win.

“That win over Hull KR was vitally important,” admitted the 27-year-old goalkicking utility back.

“We were happy with a lot of the things we were doing, but we weren’t getting the wins, and obviously that’s what counts.

“But last week we worked overtime in training on our defence and that clearly paid off. On top of that, we played for each other, and the team morale and camaraderie shone through. It really was a great victory, but we are not getting carried away.

“It was a step back in the right direction, but we know it was just a start.

“If we are to prove to everyone we can mount a successful play-off run in the second half of the season we need to start being a lot more consistent. That’s our major goal.

“The win over Hull KR has done wonders for our self belief, and the aim is to back it up at Catalans.”

Catalans have announced Kevin Walters as their coach for next season.
