HUDDERSFIELD’S Reserve and Academy sides suffered defeats at the hands of two of the top teams in their respective competitions.
The Reserves were beaten 24-6 at second-placed St Helens, while the Academy went down 20-8 at Wigan, who are also a second-placed side.
In the game at Saints, Huddersfield were 10-0 down at the break and grabbed a second-half consolation try through second-rower James Martin, with Ryan Heeley landing the conversion.
The Academy put up even stronger resistance at Wigan and remained well in the hunt as they trailed just 10-4 at the break.
The Giants’ points came through tries from Jack Sampson and Michael Lang.
