Giants to start early so Brown can run the rule

“And to finish with such an excellent win over at Warrington a week ago is a great way to sign off the season.

“To be honest, I was pretty disappointed with the way that match was portrayed across much of the rugby league world.

“So much of the focus was about the way Warrington played – or hadn’t played – rather than the way we played.

“And it was very much the same when we won at Wigan a month earlier.

“On both occasions we felt we didn’t get the credit we deserved, which is something that left a nasty taste in our mouths. I suppose it’s something else to try and use to our advantage over the coming months.

“But it proved to me that this team has a tremendous amount of potential and can make a really good fist of it next season.

“We’ve got the nucleus of an excellent Super League side, which will be led by a coach with a fantastic reputation.

“I obviously deal with him over the phone on a regular basis, and I really can’t wait to work with him daily when he gets over here, probably some time in mid-October.

“And we’re also going to be boosted by a number of top-quality signings, with Todd Carney, Brett Hodgson and Scott Moore joining us, with others hopefully along the way.

“After a very tough couple of months when Kieron (Purtill) and myself were in caretaker charge, I’ve deliberately spent the past couple of days chilling and reflecting on what’s just gone before.

“It’s been a case of trying to re-charge my batteries, just like the players do.

“But with the way things are falling into place for next season, I already can’t wait to get back to work again!”
