Debut on Hodgson agenda
NEW arrival Brett Hodgson wants to make his Giants debut in next Sunday’s pre-season clash at Castleford Tigers.
The 30-year-old Australian has just completed his first week of training with his new teammates after landing in England over Christmas.
The former State of Origin star was training with his former Australian NRL club, Wests Tigers, while he was waiting to move to England to take up a two-year Super League contract at the Galpharm.
And he has already told head coach Nathan Brown he wants to wear the claret and gold for the first time at The Jungle in eight days’ time.
“I feel fit and I’m ready to play!” announced the goalkicking full-back, who has played six State of Origin games for New South Wales, was voted the Dally M full-back of the Year for being the best player in his position in the Australian game in 2005 and was the NRL competition’s leading points-scorer with 308.
“Obviously, the final decision will be down to Browny, but he’s already hinted he wants to field a strong side, and I just hope that includes me.
“My fitness feels great after training in pre-season with the Tigers and I already feel I’m settling in well with my new teammates.
