Kevin Brown: Lets fire it up!

KEVIN BROWN is relishing the chance to continue at stand-off and make life tough for former club Wigan in Sunday’s pre-season clash at the Galpharm (3.00).
The 24-year-old was one of the Giants’ top performers in last weekend’s encouraging 28-20 trial triumph at Castleford.
His kicking game, in particular, was a major asset as he formed a highly-effective half-back partnership with Luke Robinson.
Those performances were achieved on the back of the duo training together throughout pre-season in the absence of star Australian half-back Todd Carney, who was due to arrive until his work permit was rejected.
Brown was then expected to revert to centre for Super League XIV.
But following Carney’s no-show and the Giants’ failed bid to sign New Zealand World-Cup winning half-back Nathan Fien, Brown is looking forward to continuing to forge his partnership with Robinson.
And he is determined to build on his top effort against the Tigers five days ago.
“I thoroughly enjoyed myself at Cas,” said Brown.
“It definitely shows we’re heading in the right direction, and hopefully that will continue at home to Wigan on Sunday.
“And I also think the way we played at Cas summed up the mood within the camp right now.
“I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a pre-season as much as this. The spirit among the boys is fantastic and Nathan (Brown) has already taught me loads.
“To be honest, I don’t think any of us can wait for this weekend!”
Brown’s pre-season this year has been in total contrast to the last when he was unable to take part in the vast majority of the sessions as he was recovering from major shoulder surgery.
And he admits that’s made a massive difference.
