I didn’t deserve my award! – Giants hooker Lunt

SHAUN LUNT collected his man-of-the-match award against Rochdale Hornets and immediately admitted: “I don’t think I deserved it!”
The 22-year-old hooker grabbed his first hat trick for the Giants as his club marched into the Carnegie Challenge Cup quarter-finals with a 38-12 triumph.
But even though he was delighted to have picked up the individual accolade, he felt there were certain areas of his game that were not up to scratch.
“It was great to score the hat trick, because it’s my first here,” said Lunt.
“I did score a couple when I was at Workington, but this one has to be the best because it was with a Super League club.
“I’m sure that’s why I was named the man-of-the-match, which I’m really pleased about, but I really don’t think I deserved it.
“I felt I dropped too many balls and, overall, I think the errors outweighed the good points.
“I’m now just hoping I’ve done enough to make sure I’ve kept my place against Salford next week.
“It’s always at the back of your mind when you play a game that you need to do your best to make sure you get picked the following week.
