Giants cup tie break is tonic for top men

BRETT HODGSON is confident a week’s rest will benefit the Giants as a virtual full-strength side return to Super League action on Sunday.

The skipper was one of 10 senior players who missed the 38-12 Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth-round triumph over Rochdale Hornets.

But apart from knee-injury victims Andy Raleigh and Liam Fulton, the rest – Brett Hodgson and namesake David, Paul Whatuira, Kevin Brown, Keith Mason, Scott Moore, Stephen Wild and Danny Kirmond – could return against Salford at the Galpharm.

And Hodgson has no doubt they will be in great shape as Huddersfield look to strengthen their top-four challenge.

“As a player, you never really want to have a week off, but we could all understand why the changes were made,” said Hodgson.
