NEW Zealand hard man David Fa’alogo is joining the Giants.
The 28-year-old World Cup winner has today completed a three-year deal from next season after agreeing a move from Australian NRL club South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The powerful second-rower will add serious Super League punch to the already-formidable Giants pack, weighing in at 16st 4lbs (104kg) and standing 5ft 11ins tall (1.80m).
Fa-alogo was a member of last year’s New Zealand side that secured a shock 34-20 World Cup final triumph over Australia in Brisbane and has now played in the last 13 Tests for the Kiwis, including an appearance in last Friday’s 38-10 Anzac Test defeat to the Kangaroos.
He is just the latest New Zealand Test ace to join the Giants, following in the footsteps of Paul Whatuira, Jamahl Lolesi and David Faiumu. And head coach Nathan Brown admits he is delighted to get his man.
“David is a world class player and will bring a huge amount to our team and the Super League competition,” said Brown.
“He is big, powerful and aggressive and can cause the opposition problems both with or without the ball.”
