Giants ace Finnigan relishing meeting his old Salford mates

FORMER Salford forward Simon Finnigan is relishing meeting up with some of his old teammates and showing them just how much he’s improved.
The 27-year-old will tomorrow face Salford for the first time since he left The Willows following their relegation from Super League two years ago.
Last season, the Irish international was at Bradford Bulls, but moved to the Galpharm on a three-year contract for the start of Super League XIV.
And with Finnigan admitting how much he loves life at the Galpharm Stadium and the playing role he has been given, this weekend can’t come soon enough!
“I’ve loved every minute of it here. I think it’s been one of the most enjoyable seasons I’ve ever had,” revealed Finnigan, pictured right.
“All the boys are great and there is a brilliant buzz around the changing room.
“The coaches have been really good and worked hard with me from day one, and Bumper (conditioner Mark Andrews) has also done a lot of individual work with me.
“They’re all trying to make me a better player and I’m really enjoying the challenge.
“Nathan (Brown) is very good at finding little subtleties in your game. He’s been trying to get me to play a little bit more and be direct and faster in attack.
“I’m really enjoying working with him, he’s very hands-on and very honest with you, which I think is really important for a coach.
“And I believe he’s really helping develop me as a player.
“I’m certainly looking to see how far I’ve come when I face my old mates from Salford this weekend.
“But, at the same time, I know I’ve got to treat it as just another league game.
“I played against Bradford earlier in the year as well and, to be honest, there’s not a great deal of difference other than the fact that you are playing against mates rather than anyone else.
“We’ll be looking for the two points regardless of who we face, but it’ll obviously be good to beat my old mates and show them what I can do now!
