RL round-up: Celtic Crusaders win at last to stun Bradford Bulls

CELTIC Crusaders coach John Dixon hopes his side’s stunning victory at Bradford can prove a stepping stone for greater success.

After 11 successive defeats, the Welsh outfit finally claimed their first engage Super League win with a deserved 30-24 triumph at the Grattan Stadium.

Luke Dyer settled the match when he claimed his second try in the last minute after Paul Sykes had set up a nervy finish by sliding over just moments earlier.

Dixon said: “That will give us a lot of belief we can win games.

“I always felt we could compete but this will give us a bank of knowledge to say yes we can, and that we can survive an onslaught and come through it.

“With this win, there is belief in there now, there is a spring in their step. It’s priceless.”

Chris Beasley, David Tangata-Toa and Lincoln Withers also crossed for the Crusaders while Josh Hannay kicked five crucial goals.

The visitors led for all bar the first seven minutes of the game and Dixon felt the victory was just reward for their efforts.

He added: “This was the first time we were able to match execution to effort.
