And the prop, who returns after missing the Giants’ home defeat to Salford five days ago with a leg injury, can’t wait.
“I’ve always enjoyed playing at Wakefield and, in my opinion, it’s one of the best grounds in the league to play at,” he enthused.
“I’ve got some great memories of my time at Wakefield and no matter who I’ve played for I always look forward to coming back to play there.”
And with just 16 miles separating the two clubs, Griffin believes the derby atmosphere will make Sunday’s encounter even more fiercely contested.
“Fans have quite a bit of banter with each other and there are local bragging rights up for grabs a bit,” he added.
“Derby games are fantastic occasions and with the crowd on top of you it makes for a really intense game.
“I really can’t wait for this one.”
Meanwhile, another former Giants star, Brad Drew, will have a fitness test on the knee injury which kept him out of the Wakefield team beaten 24-17 at Harlequins on Sunday.
