Andy Raleigh column: Injury made me grateful

It was also great to see that their enthusiasm for the game hasn’t been reduced since they were forced to retire from the game.
Another community group I have been pleased to be able to get to know during my time out is the Newsome Panthers.
The past couple of week’s frustration of not playing has been helped by seeing how thriving the junior game is here in Huddersfield.
Two weeks running I was invited to the junior club’s presentation evenings to hand out the end-of-season awards.
I was made to feel very welcome by everyone there and it’s great to see so many people so enthusiastic to be involved in grassroots rugby here in the town where the game was born.
FINALLY, my friends at the Laura Crane Trust have suggested doing a naked calendar with the Giants team in aid of the youth cancer charity.
After running it past the boys, the vast majority were keen to be involved, but with only 12 months of the year to fill there will be some boys missing out.
The big question is ‘who do you, the public, want to see with their shirts off?’
If there is a player you want to see with their kit off let us know at chris.roberts@examiner.co.uk.
