Giants must grasp revival chance
HUDDERSFIELD Giants are just about to embark on the most important seven days of their season so far.
Tomorrow they travel to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats looking to end a run of three defeats from their last four Super League starts.
Then, a week later, it’s the big home Carnegie Challenge Cup quarter-final clash against Castleford Tigers.
Just over a month ago, few would have been prepared to bet against the Giants failing to reach the semi-finals of rugby league’s most famous knockout competition for the third time in five years.
But with the current dip in form, it would be no great surprise if the Tigers inflicted Cup misery on coach Nathan Brown’s side.
However, if Huddersfield can win at Wakefield tomorrow to end the first half of their Super League XIV season on a positive note, the momentum would return and they could kick-on in dramatic style in the Cup the following Sunday.
And if that was the case, no-one could doubt the Giants were back on track, both on the League and Cup front, and the feel-good factor from the early stages of the season would be back.
That would obviously be fantastic, and would guarantee that what has been a superb start to the season continues.
