Giants can topple Saints: Wildy

“But we all dug deep and thoroughly deserved the win. In the end, it was a tremendous effort.”

St Helens beat the Giants 23-6 at the Galpharm Stadium in the second round of Super League back in February and will be the favourites to extend their unbeaten 18-match run in the Challenge Cup competition.

But Saints coach Mick Potter is not expecting an easy route to the final.

“They’re hard games against Huddersfield,” said Potter, whose side gained a 66-6 win over Gateshead in the quarter-finals.

“Whoever we got it was going to be hard so it doesn’t matter. There was no preference for me.

“Huddersfield were very resilient yesterday. It could have gone either way. They hang in and don’t give up. They’ve got some quality about them.”
